Meet the laras
Omar and Misty Lara have been serving in church leadership for 17 years. They met at a youth summer camp in the summer of 1996; Omar is originally from Oakland, California and Misty spent most of her childhood in the Vancouver-Portland area. These two lovebirds married at the young age of 21 and jumped right into youth ministry, a calling they both feel strongly for.
Prior to coming on board here at Grace, the Laras joined the staff at Puget Sound Christian Center approximately seven years ago, having moved from Springfield, Missouri back home to the Pacific Northwest. Omar’s first assignment was to develop a middle school ministry and to create a team of adult youth leaders. Three years later, the youth ministry at PSCC grew to 80 students, 25 adult volunteers, and 1 campus ministry.
During their time at PSCC, they both have served in many capacities within the local church and as well as directing the Seattle Area Foursquare youth summer camps.
Omar and Misty are passionate about helping men, women, youth and children pursue their God-given purpose. Most importantly, they value biblical teaching, hospitality, serving and caring for the community. They are committed to the local church and hold a deep conviction to reach people for Jesus. The Laras have three children, Treyton (15), Jaylah (10) and Sylvia (4). The five Laras love to take vacations to the beach, go to the movies, explore the parks and play board games.
